10 Natchez Trace: Garrison Creek Trail and Overlook Trail

This hike is for those who love history and hilly woods. A short portion of the trail follows the original Natchez Trace that went from Nashville to Natchez, Mississippi. Join and follow the Overlook Branch to a sweeping view of the area. Leipers Fork is 26 miles southwest of Nashville.

Start: Garrison Creek Trail trailhead, just behind the shelter on the east side of the parking area

Distance: 1.6-mile clockwise loop, combining sections of Garrison Creek Trail and the Overlook Trail

Approximate hiking time: 1 hour

Difficulty: Easy

Trail surface: Gravel, dirt

Best season: Year-round

Other trail users: Dog walkers and equestrians

Canine compatibility: Leashed dogs allowed

Fees and permits: None required

Schedule: Dawn to dusk
